BBC Authors Live

On Wednesday P1A took part in an Authors Live show. We met Alex T Smith and his character Claude who is a dog that gets up to loads of fun adventures. Alex showed us how to draw Claude as he is both an author and illustrator.

Well done P1A for your fantastic effort! We showed great listening skills and were able to follow Alex’s instructions really well.

Data Handling in P1A

We have learned so much so far in our new Maths Topic: Data Handling!

We started off by working out when everybody’s birthday was and made our very own graph!

From this we saw that January is the busiest month in our class for birthdays. We also noticed that none of the children are born in June. This was a great way for us to show our gathered information!

We then decided to find some information out about our school. We decided to focus on colours and, as a class, went round the school to ask each teacher what their favourite colour was.

What a fantastic adventure! We even managed to use the stairs in the new build safely when going to visit Primary 3. With all the information gathered, as a class we made a bar graph. This sparked a great discussion as we could clearly see which colour was most popular, which was not etc.

Great work p1A!

1A are Fast as Lightening!

Today p1a and Miss Read took part in a Karate taster session put on by one of our local clubs. Chris and his dad Dave showed us some fantastic moves and we even learned some of the words.

We had so much fun! Each child took home a leaflet to join the club and have an Active Schools sign up sheet in their bags from yesterday. The first four classes are free! Miss Read can confirm that EVERYONE in p1a thoroughly enjoyed themselves when trying out Karate.

Great work everyone and thank you so much to Chris and Dave!

What does the Fox Say?

P1A have been learning about nocturnal animals. We made these beautiful fox pictures using lots of different materials.

Here are some facts about foxes:

Foxes eat worms – Margot

Foxes dig under the snow to find little mice – Maisie

Foxes sleep in the morning – Connor

They make screeching noises – Catriona

Foxes go through the rubbish – Noor.
