Fitquest & Brainquest P7a

P7a are going to be taking part in an exciting project with researchers from the University of Edinburgh.

Here is some information about it.

If you do not want your child to be involved in the project then please let Miss Bowie or the school know.

Smartphone Exercise Games Information Sheet

You have been invited to take part in a project about exercise games for the smartphone .

What is the project about?

At the University of Edinburgh, we have made two different smart phone games called FitQuest and BrainQuest. Both the games involve running outside in the playground.

What will I be doing?

You will play FitQuest and BrainQuest each for thirty minutes on separate occasions during your PE class. The researcher will lend you a mobile phone during the class and explain how to play the game using it. You will be asked to clip an activity tracker to the waist of your skirt or trousers at the start of the session.

The activity tracker will collect information about how much exercise you take. We will store this information on a university computer but we will not store your name with it so nobody will know that the information is about. We may in the future share the information online with other researchers who are interested in exercise games for children.

If you have any questions, please ask the researcher. If you do not want to take part that is OK, as your teacher will give you another activity.
