BIG news everyone….
Bridgend Inspiring Growth have officially secured nearly £1million of Big Lottery funding to renovate Bridgend Farmhouse into a community-owned and ran Centre for Learning, Eating and Exercise!
After years and years of long, hard, dedicated work by so many people, this vital funding means that work can now begin on developing on the renovation which will include; a community-training kitchen; community cafe; education and exhibition room; multi-purpose meeting spaces; four external community workshop spaces (DIY; Art&Craft; Cycle; and storage); and more.
We are absolutely delighted at the news as you can imagine and now can’t wait to get working on the development.
Maureen McGinn, Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, said, “Today’s award to Bridgend Inspiring Growth will provide a community hub for the people in South-East Edinburgh. The renovated farmhouse will enable the community to expand opportunities for learning, healthy eating and exercise to people of all ages living in Craigmillar, Inch, Moredun and surrounding communities. This project is an inspiring example of a community making a positive and lasting impact to local people’s lives.”
The weekly drop-in sessions (Sundays 11-3) continue on at the farmhouse and as always and are looking for any volunteers and people interested to come and get involved then or at other times .
We have a small amount more fundraising to do to reach our target, and would welcome anyone interested in helping with that in donations, time or ideas. Please get in touch if interested. To celebrate we will be hosting a Burns Supper and Ceilidh on January 23rd (http://www.ceilidhcollective.org). Save the date. Further details will be out in the next month or so.
We are also hosting a Christmas Fair at the farmhouse December 6th between 1 and 3pm. So do some come along then, and let us know if you’d like a stall.
An enormous thank you and respect to everyone who has put in so much over these years and believed in the project…it has all finally paid off!
If you know anyone that would like to become a member, volunteer or like to find out more please pass this on or put them in contact.
