P6/7 is learning about time in maths. This week we concentrated on estimating and then timing events. We had great fun estimating how long it would take to build a jenga tower, recite the alphabet backwards, arrange books in alphabetical order, draw a class picture, do 50 one legged jumps and complete a 3D jigsaw. We then timed our attempts and worked out the difference.
Today, we learned how to calculate speed. We went to the astro turf and timed 60m sprints and 200m runs. We used the formula for speed and worked out that Usain Bolt is twice as fast as Taylor but still nowhere near as fast as a cheetah!
